About Me
My name is Maxim, and I was born and raised in Tel Aviv. I began my athletic career at the age of four as a tennis player. I played tennis for seven years, most of them on a competitive team.
At the age of eleven, my father took me and my younger brother to try a badminton class—and I instantly fell in love with the sport. At first, I tried to balance and train in both disciplines, but as I improved, the technical differences between tennis and badminton started to interfere with each other. So I made the decision to leave tennis behind and dedicate myself fully to badminton.
I began competing internationally at the age of 16. At first, a relative would accompany me to tournaments, but by the time I was 18, I had already started traveling on my own. Hundreds of hours in the air and unforgettable experiences all over the world—from the most remote villages in Slovenia to massive arenas in France, and even countries like Zambia, Botswana, and Kazakhstan.
The transition to the senior level at 18 was tough. Suddenly, I was no longer the biggest or the strongest, and many of the advantages I had as a junior disappeared when facing experienced adult players. But I stayed committed and kept working hard, and this year I reached the highest ranking of my career so far—220 in the world and 60 in Europe—along with my first podium finish at a senior international tournament: three consecutive bronze medals.
These achievements are a testament to my hard work and dedication to the sport—but I know this is only the beginning. My greatest ambition is to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. I see myself there, match after match, competition after competition, until the dream becomes a reality. The road is tough—not only physically and mentally, but also financially. World-class training, equipment, flights to international tournaments—all of these require significant resources.
